School Is Back In Session
Posted Tuesday, September 15, at 7:49 PM
School is now back in swing with almost 4 weeks under our belt. But that's not slowing some people down. The football boys started the year out beating Corning in a practice game 14-13, but the Cougars have yet to do anything else with 2 loses coming from Manila and Augusta. The Cougars are scheduled to play Salem Friday night and we wish the boys the best of luck.
The Drama Department has also begun planning for their fall musical "Schoolhouse Rock". It has been a while since Mrs. Burns has done the play, and we all look forward to it. The FFA team, under new direction from Mr. Dewey, is busy at work getting their livestock show team ready for competition and for the Clay County Fair. Mr. Dewey, who is new to the Rector School District, has done an excellent job of taking over the Ag Department.
Rector's FBLA Chapter will be attending the District II Fall Conference next Thursday in Jonesboro. Members are also planning to work the annual ARI picnic this Saturday at the park in Rector, along with help from Marmaduke FBLA members. Next week is also homecoming week at school, this will mean goofy dress up days and much Cougar spirit brought to the game next Friday, the 25th. Wednesday, the 23rd, is See You at the Pole as well. I hope we see many teens show up and take part in this annual celebration.
Well I hope everyone had a great Labor Day. I know I did, but it was busy nonetheless. That's just the joy of Labor Day, a busy, busy day but you get to see those certain people that only come in this one time a year.
That's should about cover everything that's going on at school. I'll try and keep it posted.
Summer Nearing End As the summer draws to a close, it's amazing to think how fast it has gone by. It seems like everyone is either gone one week or the next on vacation or some type of camp. But nonetheless school starts back in less than a month, which means that I will begin my last year at RHS...
End of School Year As everyone knows, the end of the school year can get pretty hectic and busy. For instance, today was Honor's Day and Friday will be graduation. Events like these have students running around, setting up chairs and decorations, and making everything look presentable for the community. Today was very good with many students taking home awards...
Junior Class Fundraising Sorry that I have not blogged in a while. The Junior Class has been preparing for the prom by fundraising just like every other junior class has done in the past. In three weeks time we raised over 20,000 dollars. This was a great accomplishment for us and we plan on having an amazing prom this year. ...
Girls Go to Regionals The talk of the week is how the girls are to play Cedar Ridge at Newark tomorrow night at 7. With a win there tomorrow night, the Lady Cougars have their ticket to the State Tournament. The last time the Senior Lady Cougars have went to state was when two years ago when they beat Cedar Ridge on our court. ...
First Blog First of all I would like to say a quick thanks to all the people at the Clay County Democrat who have allowed me this positon. I look forward to blog about the events at Rector High School. The main discussion at school right now is the District Tournament that is being held at Caraway. ...
