The Daffodils are Blooming

Posted Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at 7:02 PM

I hope you have all been enjoying the pre-spring weather we have been having. Notice I said "pre-spring". I have been here too long to accept the first tease of warm weather as a sign of the immediate future. It has been good to get outside and enjoy the sunshine and mild temperatures though. My daffodils are blooming, the crocuses are peeking out, and green is beginning to appear here and there. I am sure now that spring really is on the way. But I am not putting the blankets away just yet, just in case.

Ms. Pauline Shields had a visit last week from her niece, Judy Jeffries of Fenton, MO. She came to celebrate Pauline's birthday with her. Yes, Pauline has had another. She is 97 years old now and pretty proud of it. I'm pretty proud of her too. But I still can't keep up with her.

Pauline is glad too, that her friends Marvin and Evelyn Dew are back in town. They split their time between Michigan and here, you know. I know Pauline is not the only one to be glad to see you two tooling around these days.

I had email from Jessica Earls last week too. Tillie is crawling now, can you believe it? Jessica sent the most adorable pictures. She also asked me to tell everyone hello. You know who you are so here is a big "Hello!!!" from Jessica. She misses us. I think she should drop by for a visit, don't you? Come on Jessica and bring your mom too.

I missed the Rector High School play on Friday, but I heard it was marvelous. Quite different and thought provoking as usual. It sounds like I missed one that is right up my alley. Good job drama kids. We are proud of you.

I guess that is a good note on which to end this column. Next week I will have some news on the next Doo Wop Band performance which is coming up and hopefully a lot of good news and goings on from all of you. My address is 514 West 3rd St. Phone: (870) 595-3173 and email: porchswing@newwavecomm.net. Give me a holler.

God bless our soldiers.
