Thanksgiving Stuffing

Posted Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at 10:59 AM

Oh, my gosh! Isn't the sign of a great Thanksgiving dinner is that it starts with the turkey being stuffed and ends up with us being stuffed? How many of you are still full from Thanksgiving dinner?

I had a wonderful dinner. Paula Benton was here. She and I have been best friends since 9th grade. (I will not tell you how many decades that covers.)We have seen each other grow up and grow old(er), make mistakes and accomplish things we never thought we could. Lane Wozniak was here too. She and I have known each other for almost 20 years (in this life). Of course neither of us has made any mistakes in that time. We just keep training each other, or trying to.

Jessie Malin, too was here. She and I, of course have a unique spiritual connection and we are not talking about mistakes here at all. We merely "experience". Pastor Velda and Susie Bell rounded out the gathering as our newest friends. None of us has any dirt on either of them. Then Reno Smith popped in to make the table complete. Many dear friends and much to give thanks for.

Jessie, of course had another turkey day with her family on Friday. Everyone gathered at her place, as is their tradition. From St. Louis came Steve, Mary and Margo Malin. From Jonesboro, Keit, Heidie, Mason, Hayden and Cooper Cohn and Meagan Louder. Seth and Mist Cohn with their children Hailey and Dawson Henderson were there from Paragould. Then there were the usual Rectorites. Rob and Cathy Louder (she did most of the cooking) and David Cohn. Lane Wozniak dropped in too. All was wonderful.

The Kemps played host and hostess to Ashley and Neal Wimberly and their daughters Anna and Maggie. It is so good to have family and friends around this time of year.

Rosie and Tom Hayes spent a quiet Thanksgiving with Ms. Cleta Simmons. I think they are sticking around for a few days.

Now that Thanksgiving has become little more than left-overs and good memories, it is time to think about Christmas. The parade is Thursday and I believe it is going to feel like Christmas by then, if the weatherman is correct. So bundle up warmly, but come on out and see the parade and go to the community party afterward. I hear Santa may stop by. You don't want to miss him, do you?

I am looking forward to the "Night of Chocolate" on Saturday too. I hope to see you there. Oh happy happy holidays. I just love this time of year. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanza and of course Happy "Chocolate over anything" Day.

That's all for now folks. Let me hear from you. I want to know who came to your house for Thanksgiving? Give me a call or email me to let me know. My address is 514 West 3rd St. Phone: (870) 595-3173 and email: porchswing@newwavecomm.net. Thank you so much for all your emails and phone calls. I love hearing from you.

Don't forget to say a prayer for our soldiers. Let's send a little love into the universe.

Also remember to support our Operation Dad Bags Program.
