Oh What a Beautiful Morning

Posted Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at 11:28 AM

Oh what a beautiful morning! Yes indeed, it is true that the sun will shine again and it is today. I hope you saw that sensational rainbow on Friday evening. When the rain finally stopped and the sun was far down on the western horizon, we were gifted with a complete rainbow in the eastern sky. Complete and huge and positively startling with its colors. Then I turned around and the western sky was molten gold. Really beautiful.

Saturday and Sunday the sky was that beautiful Autumn deep blue. And the moon has been so bright you can read from its light. Just beautiful. Hopefully it has been some solace for those who were still flooded in.

Halloween was definitely a success on 3rd street. Hundreds of goblins and ghouls descended on us, all wanting candy, all terrifying, all positively adorable. My dogs were thoroughly exhausted after defending us from the onslaught all evening. The cats are still annoyed.

Now today, another beautiful day marred only by the fact that it is the last day my dear friends and neighbors, Paul and Cheryl Schwager will be residents of Rector. I know I have been going on ad nauseum about them leaving and I promise this will be the last of it. By the evening they will be on their way to California and we will be a little sadder because of it. But then tomorrow I will welcome my new neighbors, the Dowdy's and I look forward to their moving in. It is a great place for them.

You may know that Reno Smith is studying nursing right now. It isn't easy going back to school after raising a family. I just have to brag on her a little. She is working hard and studying hard. She made 99 on her math test last week, the highest grade in the class. You go girl! She is going to kill me when she reads this too.

Guess who called me this morning. Allean Price! She lives in Tulsa OK now near her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She says she really likes it there and she sounded just great, just like she always has. She does keep up with Rector, though and sends her love to the whole town. Her great grandchildren have all had the swine flu. One is only 4 months old so he was in the hospital for a while, but they are all better now. Thank goodness for that. It was good to reminisce with her for a few minutes. She is a true sweetheart of a lady and I miss her.

A word of warning, I fell for a scam the other day and it is one that I had heard about and just bit anyway. Google DOES NOT HIRE HOMEWORKERS!! I have heard that repeatedly, but then I saw this article that said "Google is now hiring home workers to ad links from your home computer". It sounded easy and profitable, there were a ton of comments from satisfied workers and they only wanted $1.95 to enroll. So I enrolled to see what it was about. My paypal account was debited for $1.00 (I had a promotional code). Then I headed for southern Arkansas to the Stones. On Friday afternoon, just before 5:00 pm my paypal account was debited for $129.00 from a different merchant number. Fortunately I do not carry a big balance in that account and it did not go through. The next Friday another $29.95 was debited from another merchant number. That transaction has to be disputed. I don't know if I can get it back or not. I cancelled my card so no more transactions will go through. Please learn from my error and don't be lead into that situation.

Don't forget the RHS Drama department is presenting "School House Rock Live Jr." on Saturday. You don't want to miss that. It should be really cute. It starts at 7:00. Don't be late.

Don't forget that "Ultimate Oldies Show" next weekend at the Collins Theatre in Paragould either. That should be fun for us old folks especially.

I suppose I had better end this and get over to Paul and Cheryl's while I can. Let me know what goes on with you. Give me a call or email me to let me know what is going on. My address is 514 West 3rd St. Phone: (870) 595-3173 and email: porchswing@newwavecomm.net. Thank you so much for all your emails and phone calls. I look forward to hearing from you.

Don't forget to say a prayer for soldiers everywhere. Also support our Operation Dad Bags Program.
