Did You See the Funnel Cloud?Posted Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at 9:42 AM
In the last week we have moved from rain and storms to hot, hot, hot! I'll tell you the weather is just crazy everywhere. At least the rain has made the lakes and rivers a welcoming place to be. I hope everyone got some swimming in this week-end.
Did you see the funnel cloud here last week? I guess you realize our tornado siren went off before there was any word from the weather stations about that sighting. Thanks to the spotters and whoever sounded the warning. It did send folks scurrying to the church basement and other basements as well. Even my dogs were nervous as we hunkered down in our safe place. Now we know that if a dangerous situation is sighted in our area, our alarm will sound and we should respond even if Channel 8 isn't aware of our drama. Thanks again. Lane Wozniak had bad news last Monday when she heard that her brother-in-law in FL was killed in an automobile accident. She immediately flew to Florida to be with her sister. Our thoughts and prayers are with Lane and her family. Paula Benton is back from a long visit with her family and friends in Texas. She spent time with her son Chaz Hulett and his wife Kelsey in Pearland, her son Jeff Ham in Houston and friend Dianne Campbell in League City. She had a great time and caught up on a lot of family and friendly news. I took advantage of the trip to Little Rock Airport to swing by Rison and visit with Jim and Carol Stone for an afternoon. Jim wasn't feeling too good right then but he is better today. He missed an opportunity to play golf again so he was pretty ticked. Get better Jim and prove that last win wasn't just a fluke. I plan to take advantage of the trip to the St. Louis airport when I pick up Lane to visit with Steve and Mary Malin for a little while. I'll bet Jessie Malin takes that ride with me. I will tell you about that next week. There are still a few tickets left for the Gaither Concert in August. You really don't want to miss that so hurry and get your tickets. I know this is short, but it is all I have for this week. You really must let me know what is happening with you. Where are you going, where have you been. Who is coming to see you. We all want to know. Thank you to everyone who shares their stories with me. I really enjoy hearing from you all. My address is 514 West 3rd St. Phone: (870) 595-3173 and email: porchswing@newwavecomm.net. God bless our troops. |
