It's a Bright Sunshiney Day

Posted Monday, May 18, 2009, at 2:58 PM

We've already had two beautiful days in a row without rain and more sunny days are in the forecast. Doesn't it just make you feel like singing? Don't worry I don't sing all that loud any more. I know our farmers would be dancing in the streets if they weren't so busy doing all those things they can't do in the rain. Let's all get outside and enjoy this sunshine!

Graduation was Friday. Wasn't it lovely? It is such a time of hope and anticipation. High school is now behind you and the rest of your lives await. For some there is college, another chapter in preparedness. For others the military beckons. For some it is a vocational school and for others you will step directly into the life that is yours to create.

From this day forward, seniors, your life is a series of choices. Tomorrow will be a direct result of the choices you make today. So choose wisely, dream big, don't set your sights too low, and never let your mistakes define you. Take a lesson from them and move forward. Congratulations!

Now go and live your best life!

And as for the rest of you students and teachers: Just one more week of school after this one.

If you haven't heard already, Ivy Claire Benson has arrived! There is the cutest picture on facebook. This means Tracy Horton is officially a grandma now. Of course other grandparents include Tracy's husband, Steve, Cameron and Emily Beacham and Mark and Tish Benson. I suppose we should mention the proud parents too. Congratulations Nicole and Dustin. Your precious treasure is here.

I heard from Ms. Rena Snow this weekend. She had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend with all five of her daughters in town. Janis Mundy of Reno, NV, Judith Neely of San Antonio, TX, Ellen Dalton of St. Francis, Celia Henary of Memphis and Paige Mobley and her husband from Little Rock were all home for the week end.

On Sunday they went to church together at the St. Francis Baptist Church. This was the church they all attended while growing up. Ellen and Darrell Dalton hosted the noon meal for them. Also present were Laura Dalton Foltz, husband Bryan and children Sarah and Jacob of Martin TN and Jack and Pam Dalton with their daughters Ashley and Abigail of Jonesboro. What a delightful day to honor a delightful mother.

Susie Bell wanted me to mention that the confirmation class of the First United Methodist Church is taking orders for tee-shirts to support the "Nothing But Nets" foundation. It is an organization that provides mosquito nets to the poor in Africa to help prevent the spread of malaria. They will be selling the tee-shirts until June 7. If you would like to contribute, give Susie a call at the Methodist Parsonage.

Lane Wozniak is taking advantage of the good weather to explore Arkansas a little at a time. This week end she drove to Hardy and tried to shop the whole town in an afternoon. That, of course wasn't possible so she is looking to go back sometime soon.

We are getting good publicity on the upcoming Gaither performance which is to take place in August. You had better get your tickets right away. It is going to be a wonderful show and we will be able to enjoy it in the comfort of our new gymnasium. That means stadium seating and air conditioning. Not to mention, the best people in the whole wide world attending. (That's us)! Proceeds will benefit the RHS Helping Hands Foundation. We all know that they benefit us all. So go get your tickets NOW!

That is all for today. I really enjoy hearing from you, so let me know what goes on. I will share the information. My address is 514 West 3rd St. Phone: (870) 595-3173 and email: porchswing@newwavecomm.net. Enjoy the sunshine.
