Moving onPosted Thursday, December 4, 2008, at 6:09 PM
Hello, everyone. Now that Thanksgiving is behind us we can turn our full attention to Christmas. I absolutely refuse to start Christmas before Thanksgiving. No decorations and no carols until the turkey is in the oven.
Do you have your tree up yet? I have seen quite a few houses with Christmas lights up. I just love looking at the lights this time of year. There is no shortage of lights around here either, in town or out in the country, wherever you go there is a splendid display. I love to drive around and see the lights of the Delta too. Oh I just love this time of year altogether. Downtown Rector is all dressed up and looks just wonderful. Thank you, city crew and merchants for making the town look so festive. I think it is wonderful that we end each year with a period of thanksgiving and then celebration. That too seems to cross religious lines. December has spiritual significance for almost all religions. Lane Wozniak spent Thanksgiving with her son, Josh in Reno, Nevada. She just returned earlier this week after more than a week of mothering and cooking and eating and, who know what else. She was in Reno. My guess is that she made at least one trip up to Lake Tahoe and played in the snow. Rob, Cathy and Meghan Louder traveled to Fairfield IL to celebrate Thanksgiving with Rob's mother on Thursday. Mason, Hayden and Cooper Cohn accompanied them and they all enjoyed a great Louder family get together. They were all back on Friday for the annual Malin Thanksgiving feast at Jessie Malin's. They were joined by Keit and Heidi Cohn, Seth and Misty, Cohn and their children, Hailey and Dawson Henderson, and David Cohn. Steve Malin and his daughters Mika and Margo also drove down from St. Louis. Now that was a rowdy bunch, I can assure you. And if that wasn't enough fun, Steve brought in ribs and pork steaks from Strawberry's on Saturday and they invited a few more for dinner. Another rowdy time, I am sure. Me? Paula and I cooked the full traditional thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. We invited Jessie and Carol Stone and Pastor Bell and Suzy. We were all perfect ladies, of course, eating, visiting and listening to Christmas carols. Not at all rowdy. Not at all. What did you do for Thanksgiving? Come on let's hear who came to dinner. We are starting off the holiday season with a bang! The Christmas parade is this week and then "A Night of Chocolate". The Lions Club will host "Breakfast with Santa on the 13th. Just one party after another. And then we get to welcome home our soldiers sometime soon too. Get those banners and ribbons out now. Homecoming is getting closer every day. It is time to get this rapped up. Let's all get out and celebrate Christmas and Hanukah homecoming and whatever else we can find as an excuse to spread love and good will. And then share it with me. Just give me a call or send me an email. My phone number is 595-3173 or you can drop me a note at 514 West 3rd St. My email address is: porchswing@newwavecomm.net. Love and peace are the words of the season. Love and peace to you all. |
