A Farewell to Rector from Sandra Roussel

Posted Friday, September 12, 2008, at 2:26 PM

As I prepare to move to a new home for the first time this century, I find myself alternately excited and a bit sad. I'm excited to begin a new chapter in my life, but I find myself a bit melancholy about leaving behind a home I've known, a town I've grown to love, and the friends that I've made.

When I first moved to Rector nine years ago, I did so with few expectations. What I found was a unique town filled with friendly and fun people. I was immediately welcomed by my neighbors who were anxious to tell me about Rector's history.

I have so many great memories of my time in Rector that I could not possibly list them all. Some memories were scary, like the tornado in Marmaduke; some were comical, like a stray bull taking a nap in my neighbors front yard; and a few were just unexplainable, like the recent appearance of inflatable flamingos on my front porch.

I wouldn't trade a minute of the time I've spent in Rector for anything and I can only hope that my new home will be just as endearing to me. I wish all of my friends, neighbors, and the community of Rector the best. I'll miss you and I look forward to returning for a visit soon.

Sincerely,

Sandra Roussel
