Foreman wins it allPosted Sunday, May 18, 2008, at 7:12 PM
As those who were present at last week's Class 2A State Softball Tournament in Rector anticipated, the Foreman Lady Gators made it three state titles in a row with a 3-0 win over the Dierks Lady Outlaws in the championship game Saturday at Fayetteville.
Remarkably, the Lady Gators have FOUR freshmen in their starting lineup, indication the streak may just be getting going well. Our sports reporter, Ryan Rogers, did a very good job telling the story of a couple of families who made the long trek to Rector for the games here. They camped out for five nights at the RV sites at Memorial Park. His story was in the print edition of the newspaper and may also be found elsewhere in this electronic edition. We are certain the Foreman fans made another long trip Saturday to see their girls bring home the hardware. |
Ron Kemp and his wife Nancy have published the Clay County Democrat since 1977. They are excited about the new possibilities with the website and the opportunity to give a daily approach to "late-breaking" events in a weekly newspaper operation. Kemp has spent his entire career in the newspaper business and served as president of the Arkansas Press Association in 1993. The Kemps' daughter, Ashley Wimberley, has continued the family tradition, currently serving as director of marketing at the APA office in Little Rock.
